Snacktivist is a food innovation company that elevates underutilized crops and farmer-connected supply chains. Our work contributes to the realignment of food and agriculture with positive human health outcomes and climate resiliency
 Snacktivist works with leading-edge farmers to bring you the highest quality, climate-smart grains, legumes and potatoes grown under regenerative management. In addition to creating our baking mix line and selling high-quality ingredients, we also provide value-chain coordination services, brokerage, and regenerative food systems thought leadership.
Snacktivist is pivoting to play a major role in this market connectivity and innovation.
 

WHY WE DO IT 

Generally speaking, our agricultural system is held "hostage" by market forces that don't value crop diversity, soil health or nutrient density. Snacktivist was built on the mission of elevating underutilized diverse crops like the ancient grains sorghum, millet and teff through product innovation and advocacy.
This yearning to drive innovation was what gave birth to our original Baking Mix, Pizza Crust, IQF Ancient Grains, Sorghum-Millet Grain Bowls lines and many other products that have not yet had the chance to hit the market.

THE SNACKTIVIST FOODS STORY
 
Years ago, our Founder, Joni  struggled to juggle long nursing shifts and busy days full of activities with three kids.  Joni saw an incredible disconnect in our healthcare system and knew that she would never be able to make the impact she wanted fixing diseases once they had already had taken hold. Diet related disease was indeed the root of so much human suffering and so much of it could be prevented with better quality foods. 
Joni also understood what it was like to feed a family with food allergies and dietary intolerances which was why we chose to make our first retail line all top-9 allergen free.  Snacktivist product recipes were formulated in our family's kitchen, made from ancient grains and legumes and we love to share them with others.
While our household became very good at cooking without common allergens, we were still deeply troubled by this modern epidemic. We believe that the food allergy epidemic is a call to action to take back our food system.
This is what Snacktivism is all about! 
 

REGENERATIVE BY DESIGN, ETHNOBOTANY IN ACTION


Snacktivist founder, Joni, is an Ethnobotanist and spent her life studying how people use plants for food and medicine. Now, we are applying this principle to our everyday staples. Imagine if we could change the narrative around staple foods like grains and transform them into a category rich in nutrition and nutraceutical properties. 
 

We believe that food can be medicine for you and your microbiome. We dive deeper into the phytochemicals found in grains, legumes, and seeds. For example, sorghum contains antioxidants, and millet can affect blood sugar regulation. We are determined to bring Ethnobotany back to the food system and make our everyday foods part of our healthcare regimen.
